Welcome to Åland, pin point of the Baltic Sea!
Spring in Åland probably is one of the most beautiful ones in the world. The entire flora, the green and the warmth creates the perfect conditions for successful meetings between people.
The self-governing islands of Åland have arisen out of a willingness to join and be part of the big world. We have operated large windjammers, and we started the ferry epoc that changed the entire Baltic Sea. Surrounded by the ocean, it is natural that we have developed a modern shipping cluster. Today, passenger lines are still strong, but shipping on Åland is so much more than that and reaches places all over the world. Here you will find successful tank owners and modern roro shipping companies, expanding shipping insurance and banking companies. In Åland there is also a knowledge about the conditions of shipping that brought the islanders far across the world, even to China.
The Maritime Day has been arranged since 2001 and has since developed into one of the most important maritime meetings in the Baltic Sea, activists and decision makers gather to discuss the future of the industry. The Maritime Day is organized by the Association Åland Sjöfart in cooperation with the Åland Regional Government, DNV-GL and Alandia Marine. By working together, we make the day more interesting and more valuable to all our guests.
On behalf of the Federation, I would like to welcome everyone to this year’s edition of the Maritime Day. Exhibitor’s, delegates, speakers and many others who create business and not only make shipping alive but actually keep the whole world trade going will be here. My hope is that the Maritime Day will create new businesses, contacts, friendship and insights.
A very warm welcome to Mariehamn, Åland and Alandica Culture & Congress on Thursday 1st of June and also, make time right now, for Thursday May 24th, 2018 as we continue our way towards the future!
